How Do I Access the IQ Academic Spectral Database?

• In order to access the IQ Academic Spectral Database you need the KnowItAll Academic Edition (version 4.1 or higher). The KnowItAll Academic Edition is a free software package for teachers and students. The KnowItAll Academic Edition enables users to draw structures in 2D and 3D, perform IR and Raman functional group analysis, process and search IR, NMR, and Raman spectra, generate high-quality laboratory reports, and more.
• The IQ Academic Spectral Database is hosted on Bio-Rad's server. Access to the database is done via secure http protocol and no record of searches is kept by Bio-Rad. (See our privacy statement for more information.)
• A fast internet connection (DSL, Cable, T-1, etc.) is recommended for access and searching of data.
• The IQ Academic Spectral Database can be purchased within the KnowItAll Academic Edition simply by clicking on the BuyIt icon. The license to the IQ Academic Spectral Database is granted electronically upon approval of the credit card transaction.
• The license to the IQ Academic Spectral Database includes the capability to browse the database, search database by structure, spectrum peaks, name, and property. Many other features are included in the Academic Edition.
• The IQ Academic Spectral Database license is active for one year. After the first year, if it is not renewed, the license will expire and access to the database will be disabled.

Instructions for Licensing the IQ Database

1. The IQ Academic Spectral database can only be purchased and accessed from Academic Edition of KnowItAll software.
   1. If you are a new KnowItAll user download free Academic edition.
   2. If you are an existing KnowItAll
   3. user with a version prior to v.4.1, see the instructions to Upgrade to the Current Version of the KnowItAll Academic Edition. To determine which version you are currently running, go to the "Help" menu and select the "About KnowItAll" option
2. Once  KnowItAll v.4.1 or higher software is running, click on the BuyIt icon located under the BuyIt group on the left-hand side of the screen.
3. Select the "Shop" page.
4. Add the IQ Academic Spectral Database to the shopping basket by clicking on the "add to basket" link.
5. Select the "Checkout" page. Fill in the billing information and select "Order".
6. If the transaction is authorized, the annual license to the IQ Academic Spectral Database will be granted. The license status will now appear on the License Page in BuyIt under the "Database and Property Engine" section. You will receive an email confirming your order. An email confirmation will be sent to the address used in the original KnowItAll Academic Edition registration.
